Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A two-foot-long snake was spotted inside the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters on Wednesday morning, causing panic among employees. The incident occurred in the printing department, shortly after the office was opened. Security guard Nirupam Bhattacharya, who first saw the snake, immediately raised an alarm. “I saw it climbing onto a chair and warned everyone,” he said. Employees evacuated the room, and the area was sealed off while the forest department was alerted.
Municipal workers informed the caretaker, who then reported the matter to the concerned authorities. The forest department dispatched a team to capture the snake while security personnel restricted access to the affected area. Until the snake was caught, no one was allowed to enter. This is not the first such incident at the KMC headquarters, as previous cases of snake sightings have been reported, prompting concerns over the presence of reptiles in the building.
Forest officials arrived at the scene and began efforts to capture the snake. The employees were asked to remain outside until it was safely removed. As of now, there is no official confirmation on whether the snake has been captured. Authorities have yet to provide details on how the reptile entered the premises or what measures will be taken to prevent future incidents.
